"Ever wonder who's really responsibile for all the incredibly good food prepared at Oak Street Natural Market and Deli? The great team who works hard to nourish you each day in our natural foods deli is lead by our Head Chef,
Bettie Shomper. Bettie defines the term "eclectic." You know how chefs are always portrayed as divas/divos? (and most of the time that portrayal rings true.) Well, our Bettie is the first fine cook I've ever encountered without an ego bigger than the biggest pancake you could ever make. Yet everything she touches in the culinary realm turns to gold. We could fill a book with customer compliments regarding her food. She is someone who just loves to cook. And we are all the beneficiaries of her love.
Her passion and specialty actually is....birds! And not the kind we marinate and make on our rotisserrie each day either. Bettie was previously Head Bird Trainer at an exotic bird show in Florida and to this day has four beautiful birds as part of her family. Her husband is a horse vet and together they share a sweet piece of land with all of their animals in the Paradise Valley.
